Invisible Sentinel and Jackson Family Wines Bring Wine-Quality Test to Worldwide Market

PHILADELPHIA, PA and SANTA ROSA, CA, United States, via eTeligis Inc., 05/05/2014 - - Invisible Sentinel Inc., a life-sciences company that develops and manufactures molecular diagnostics, and Jackson Family Wines, the international wine company based in Sonoma County, announced today the commercialization of a first-in-class test to detect Brettanomyces in wine.

The commercial launch and implementation of this diagnostic assay, called Veriflow® BRETT, follows validation of its accuracy and utility in multiple California wineries and laboratories of Jackson Family Wines, in addition to third party wineries and laboratories on both the East and West Coasts.

Veriflow® BRETT has been jointly developed by the two companies with the use of Invisible Sentinel's proprietary Veriflow® technology and is being jointly marketed.

"Our collaboration with Jackson Family Wines has expedited the development and commercialization of a paradigm changing tool for rapid detection of Brettanomyces at the winery," said Nick Siciliano, Chief Executive Officer of Invisible Sentinel. "We are proud that Jackson Family Wines has adopted Veriflow® BRETT to further ensure the quality of its acclaimed wines and we are working together to make this diagnostic tool available to the entire industry."

Veriflow® BRETT was conceptualized as a partnership between the two companies and came to fruition in conjunction with Invisible Sentinel's Custom Solution Program, a contract service that helps clients to develop customized assays on their proprietary Veriflow® platform.

Hugh Reimers, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Jackson Family Wines, said, "Veriflow® BRETT has found a place in our own wine production because it is easy to use and it quickly informs winemakers of Brettanomyces levels -- letting winemakers make better decisions about their winemaking style even more quickly. We are already seeing interest and demand for this valuable tool from other vintners across the globe and glad to collaborate with the team at Invisible Sentinel."

Veriflow® BRETT brings to winemaking a convenient test kit that can yield results in hours rather than days. The test has been developed with the same Veriflow® technology approved for use in the food industry for the rapid detection of foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella and Listeria.
