E-Waste Systems, Inc. (OTCQB: EWSI) (EWSI, "eWaste Systems," or the "Company"), an electronic waste management, reverse logistics, environmentally focused services and technology company and the first pure play public e-waste operator, announced today details on the Grand Opening of the state-of-the-art processing facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Martin Nielson, Founder & CEO of eWaste Systems, was joined by several key members of the staff including President Julie Peterson and Secretary/Treasurer Susan Johnson, along with Springdale, Ohio Mayor Doyle Webster, the Chief of Police, the Fire Chief, media reporters, investors, business partners, and Members of Ohio Valley Goodwill's Transportation, Donations and Retail team.
"We had quite the turnout today, and we are pleased about the reception, both by our investors and the community," said Mr. Nielson. The event started with a meet-and-greet in the front lobby. Julie Peterson, President of eWaste Systems and head of the eWaste division, discussed the floor plans and answered questions about their U.S. operations in California, New York, and Cincinnati. Since the new Cincinnati location is set to be the hub for new innovations and the latest technologies attained through acquisitions and teaming agreements, Ms. Peterson also spent time talking about the developments taking place today, such as the inclusion of NRT Sorters' rare earth's sorting facility.
The front office greets customers with a welcoming lobby, and opens up into an education center, where clients can learn about e-waste recycling, the negative implications it has on our environment when not processed properly, and easy-to-follow steps on how to recycle responsibly. There is even an area being set up for The Boy Scouts of America to earn their recycling merit badges, led by the efforts of one of EWSI's employees, who is an Eagle Scout himself. "We wanted this facility to be fun, inviting to the public, and to have it really show off all of the technological advancements that have been made in e-waste recycling in recent years," added Ms. Peterson.
Beyond the education center is where the CPU Computer Repair segment of eWaste Systems is located, a division which was acquired through the Surf Ltd Acquisition in 2013(1). The flagship CPU Repair center also recently upgraded, as they moved into a new facility in Irvine, California. This is where technicians handle warranty notebook repair, adding to EWSI's diverse portfolio of e-waste handling solutions. "Seeing so many of our technologies coming together under one roof is quite an exciting step in our evolution as a company," Peterson continued.
The ribbon cutting ceremony started with a speech from the Mayor and special gift from the city of Springdale to commemorate the occasion. Both Mayor Webster and CEO Martin Nielson then cut the ribbon, and were met with a roar of applause. "This is really a wonderful step forward in our company's evolution here in the United States," commented Mr. Nielson.
Once inside the processing center, guests were able to see the equipment and feedstock and hear the strategy behind the flow of materials and some of the future developments. Colorful lines marked the clean floor, and supplies and electronics were neat and orderly. Dozens of investors, clients, business partners, reporters, and curious neighbors walked through the tours, asking questions about the processes, the company's future, and they were greeted by several prideful EWSI employees, boasting their shirts with the green 'e.' Residents were also told that they were free to drop off their personal electronics for processing at no charge, a surprise that was warmly greeted.
Members from the Ohio Valley Goodwill team also showed up to give their support and participate in the festivities, thereby solidifying their burgeoning relationship with EWSI. Ohio Valley Goodwill helps to recycle more than 42,000,000 pounds of donated materials each year. For the past two years, Goodwill has been accepting computers and related electronic equipment for recycling purposes through its network of 29 Greater Cincinnati donation centers, and recently agreed to work with eWaste Systems to process it.(2) "This is just the beginning of our relationship with Goodwill, and we are really looking forward to celebrating many more milestones with them," added Peterson.
The state-of-the-art processing center is housed in the Cincinnati suburb of Springdale, Ohio, center of the Cincinnati/Dayton Metroplex. Nearby businesses include GE Aviation and Cincom Systems.(3) Today, the facility occupies 50,000 square feet and can process up to 75,000,000 pounds of e-waste annually, and has more than 25 employees.
