Ex-Im Bank Chairman Fred P. Hochberg Visits Zero Motorcycles' California Factory

Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, today announced that it hosted a visit by Fred P. Hochberg, Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Zero Motorcycles CEO Richard Walker invited Chairman Hochberg to tour Zero's Scotts Valley, California factory after Mr. Walker participated as a speaker at last year's Ex-Im Annual Conference. Chairman Hochberg first became enamored with the technology when he rode a Zero motorcycle on stage during his keynote address at the 2012 Ex-Im Annual Conference.

"I'm excited to be here at Zero today to see these amazing electric motorcycles," commented Ex-Im Chairman Fred P. Hochberg. "It is great to see an American company designing and building this kind of product right here in California. We are proud to support Zero Motorcycles as they expand their exports of these innovative motorcycles worldwide and boost jobs here in California."

"We are thrilled to have Chairman Hochberg join us today and see our high performance electric motorcycles on the factory floor and in action," said Richard Walker, CEO of Zero Motorcycles. "As one of the top leaders in President Barack Obama's administration, his visit sends a strong statement about support for the revival of American manufacturing."

The visit began with an introductory meeting between Chairman Hochberg, Ex-Im Senior Vice President of Congressional Affairs Scott P. Schloegel, and the Zero Senior Executive Team at the company's headquarters near Santa Cruz, California. Next came a private tour of Zero's manufacturing operations and factory floor. Both Chairman Hochberg and Mr. Schloegel wanted to make sure they had a chance to ride the electric motorcycles before delivering their congratulations to the entire Zero staff.

Zero Motorcycles participates in the Ex-Im Environmental Exports program which supports Zero's global business across Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Zero predicts that 60% of its business this year will be exports from the United States to the rest of the world. By using credit insurance provided by the Ex-Im Bank to support these export sales, Zero has been able to increase growth and employment, bringing electric vehicle manufacturing back to the United States.

Chairman Hochberg also was able to view the Zero Police Fleet motorcycles. Zero Motorcycles has made a compelling case for electric motorcycles in police and public safety fleets and is now the worldwide leader in this technology. Zero has made recent announcements of the deployments of 59 patrol fleet motorcycles in Hong Kong, and 100 police motorcycles in Bogota, Colombia. In each case, these motorcycles are being used for patrols, traffic enforcement, and all daily policing actions. Bogota has made a long-term commitment to replacing thousands of gas police motorcycles with electric ones. These relationships place Zero at the forefront of the shift to global electric mobility.
