WASHINGTON, DC, United States, via eTeligis Inc., 06/25/2014 - - The National Business Group on Health today honored 63 U.S. employers for their ongoing commitment to promoting healthy work environments and encouraging workers to live healthier lifestyles. The honored employers, including eight first-time winners, were presented with "2014 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles®" awards at the Business Group's Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being Leadership Summit held in Washington, DC.
Now in its tenth year, the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards recognizes those employers that have responded to the urgent need to improve their employees' health, productivity and quality of life. The underlying goal of the program is to encourage all employers to take action.
Brian Marcotte, President and CEO of the National Business Group on Health, commented: "We are very pleased to honor this group of companies that are dedicated to wellness and health improvement programs. Their commitment to promote a healthy work environment and to partner with employees to pursue healthy lifestyles is to be commended. Health improvement programs not only complement an organization's benefits program, they are an integral part of their overall efforts to stem rising health care benefit costs."
"Employer interest in wellness and health improvement programs continues to grow nationwide, especially as more and more organizations see the business value these programs can deliver," said LuAnn Heinen, Vice President of the National Business Group on Health, who has overseen the awards program since its inception. "This year's honorees, including eight first-time winners, are clearly leading the way and should be proud of their efforts to build a healthier workplace and workforce. We congratulate all of them for their creativity, commitment and dedication."
Winners of the 2014 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards were honored in one of two categories: Platinum, for exemplary workplace well-being programs, cultures and results; and Gold, for making cultural and environmental changes and developing comprehensive programs that support employees' healthy lifestyle goals.
