RGA founder and President Rick Grant won a national award for business podcasting in 2006, but sold his production company to another PR firm in early 2007.
"We were probably too far ahead of the curve the first time," Grant said. "It took some time for the technology to catch up. Now, busy executives are using their smart phones to download audio content and listening to it while traveling. It's what we thought would happen with the iPod, but that interim technology didn't win enough market share among professionals, especially C-level executives."
"The smartphone has changed all of that," Grant said, "and today more executives than ever are downloading podcasts and listening to them with their phones or using Bluetooth to listen through their car's speaker system. With the release of iOS 7, Apple has created a standalone app for podcasts, making it even easier for users to listen to this programming."
Marketers are using the podcast to introduce new customers to their offerings, share success stories with prospects and build interest and desire in their target markets.
"It's all about getting the brand's stories told and podcasting is another way that smart CMOs are getting that done," Grant said. "We have a lot of experience with podcast production, so it makes sense for us to get back into that game."
